About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe, effective, non-pharmaceutical way to relieve pain, reduce stress, strengthen the immune system and improve overall health and well-being. Fine sterilized needles are inserted into points on the body then stimulated to activate the body’s natural healing processes.

Qi (pronounced “chee”) can be defined as “life force” or “vital substance” and refers to the physiological functions of organs and the energy flowing through the body. The functions of qi are warming, moving, nourishing, holding, protecting, transforming, raising and moistening.

Acupuncture:

  • improves circulation of qi and blood
  • harmonizes bodily functions
  • reduces swelling and inflammation
  • alleviates pain and spasms
  • increases range of motion
  • speeds healing process
  • reduces scar tissue formation
  • strengthens the immune system

“When there is pain, there is no free flow.  If there is free flow, there is no pain.” – Chinese Proverb

“To be balanced is to be in the flow.” Ling Shu, Classical text on acupuncture

I have been workin with Ariel for close to 12 months. Each session she is focused not just on healing what I came in for originally, but truly, listening and working on my body holistically. She helped me prepare and recover from surgery, work through intestinal issues, and address areas of pain. Highly recommend. – Melissa Albergo

Ariel is a gifted practitioner. She is thoughtful & intuitive, I would recommend her to anyone. – Harley Maxwell

Ariel has been a God send. She is unbelievably skilled, patient, knowledgeable and compassionate. Been going to Ariel for many years and she has an innate ability to find the precise spots to treat the many and complex issues of my fibromyalgia. I also follow her recommendations for natural supplements. So very grateful to have her as my acupuncturist and wellness advocate. Peace. – Mary Beth Hanlon

Experienced, professional, considerate and caring. The treatments gave an overall positive feeling well beyond the intended purpose. Cheers! – Mickey S.

Ariel Mayer is the most intuitive acupuncturist that I have ever been to. She is observant, and sensitive to how my body feels and reacts, as she puts in the needles. And she uses that feedback to determine how best to proceed. As a 50+ year old want-to-be athlete who is constantly getting hurt, I have found Ariel Mayer to be a godsend and crucial part of my health support system. – Rob Distell

Expert care, great place for acupuncture, always feel better after going. – J. Perry

I have been seeing Ariel Mayer for the past four years on a very regular basis. I have to admit, I was a skeptic of acupuncture but at the insistence of my doctor about the benefits of acupuncture, I decided to give it a try. Ariel Mayer is extremely intuitive, compassionate, very observant, kind and caring. Each visit I seem to present some new set of aches, pains, or just everyday stressors to her and like a skilled surgeon she takes it all in a calm fashion and within a very short period of time she has placed her needles into the appropriate areas that just seem to give an overall positive feeling of well being. She has helped me navigate the “getting older” process as a woman who is now in her early 60’s much better. I have recommended her to others as this once skeptic is a firm believer in the healing benefits of acupuncture. – Lisa Kenefic

I’ve been a patient of Ariel Mayer for about a year and my only regret is not finding her sooner. I look forward to my weekly sessions for both physical and mental balance and healing. Ariel is extremely knowledgeable. She is always able to answer my in-depth questions with ease and supports me to solve any health issues in a holistic manner. I truly appreciate all that Ariel and acupuncture have done to improve my health and well being. – Lisa Vanatta

Relatively new to acupuncture… Ariel Mayer is great and always targeted with the treatment after a brief check-in. There is a lot more to acupuncture than treating pain – always feel refreshed after my visit. – Howard Mc.

I have been seeing Ariel… for several different issues. My experience has been nothing short of fantastic. Ariel is kind, compassionate and knows how to effectively treat my issues. She will focus every visit on understanding where you are and will target your session towards your specific needs. It is absolutely the most relaxing and zen hour of my week. I would highly recommend her! – Deanna Sanders

Ariel is wonderfully caring and skilled acupuncturist, as well as attentive listener. It’s amazing how she can guide the needle to just the right spot with immediate release of muscle tightness! – Val. L

My husband and I have been going for many years. We both have had wonderful results for sciatica and sinus issues. My husband has had some ugly scars from different surgeries and they have mostly disappeared. The best improvement has been with my husband’s snoring. The result was immediate. The first night after Ariel treated him for snoring he didn’t snore. The only time he snores now is if he has a head cold. We have both benefited with a better night of sleep. – Sharon Hahn

I cannot begin to rave enough about Ariel. I have such a deep gratitude for her, words will never be adequately express. I first began working with Ariel after I had a second miscarriage and was in the process of testing for a cause with RMA of NJ. After being diagnosed with low AMH, RMA told me there wasn’t a treatment for low AMH, IVF was the best option. I began seeing Ariel two or three times a week and was able to double my AMH, prior to conceiving my first child naturally! The journey to become pregnant and support a healthy pregnancy can be stressful and emotional. Working with Ariel offered personalized support on so many levels. I’ve never felt alone. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with a baby girl, and I accredit Ariel for her help! Ariel genuinely cares about her patients. She goes above and beyond in terms of thoughtfulness and treatment. Throughout my journey to conceive and my pregnancy Ariel has offered such helpful advice in terms of nutrition and supplementation, in addition to the high-quality care she espouses during treatment. She is intuitive, caring, and gets results!! – Alexandra Bound
